Mashable: Whip those kids into shape

There are many ways that we incorporate pop culture into our lessons and many times we don’t realize it or how it changes the dynamics in the classroom. Here is a PE teacher who is using pop culture to meet the fitness needs of his students.

What is so important about this example is that this teacher could have simply warmed his kids up by having them come in and do their calisthenics. Instead he chose to teach the kids a fitness dance. What’s key is even the kids who aren’t proficient at a given task are trying. This is what engagement means.
