Last night I had the opportunity to attend an event at the Tempe Center for the Arts and to visit the American Pop Exhibit. If you aren’t familiar with the Gallery at the TCA, its a free resource that encourages schools to visit.
American POP! explores the transformative effects that science fiction and popular culture have on our everyday lives and the technology that surrounds us. Tempe Center for the Arts and Arizona State University have worked together to create an exhibit that will investigate the relationship between popular culture, scientific inquiry, technological innovation and cultural change. The exhibit combines pop culture with planetary science to provide a STEAM experience that will engage your students. It highlights several science professionals who share the pop culture that inspired their passion for science and planetary exploration.
To prepare your students for the experience have them visit the Center for Science and the Imagination website for the exhibition.
Here you’ll find videos of science professionals discussing their pop culture influences and other resources. This is a great end of the year experience.
Can’t take your kids on the field trip? Why not use the digital resources for a virtual experience?
